IN HER GENIUS began as a deeply personal quest—a search for purpose and authenticity by our founder, Tanya Gervasi. In February 2021, Tanya found herself at a crossroads, grappling with questions about her talents and her place in the world. To find clarity, she embarked on an inspiring journey, interviewing over 40 remarkable women who had discovered their own unique "zones of genius."

These women, whether known to the world or quietly pursuing their passions, shared a profound commonality: their paths were anything but linear. They described moments of wandering in the dark, following breadcrumbs of intuition, often at the risk of seeming eccentric or even crazy. Through their stories, Tanya saw reflections of her own struggle and uncovered a universal truth: genius is born not from certainty but from curiosity, persistence, and a willingness to explore the unknown.

What stops you?
Amid this process, Tanya’s own creative voice began to emerge. She wrote a short story, and when a friend illustrated it, the spark of an idea was born. Tanya decided to publish the book independently, and the name of her blog, IN HER GENIUS, felt like the perfect identity. Armed with research, ISBNs, and a partnership with a local printer, she published her first book, The Mouse Who Spoke About Everyone. Soon after, another opportunity arose when that same friend showed her her latest book to be published, Tanya proposed to do it again through IN HER GENIUS.
Book after book, Tanya realised she had discovered not only a passion for book design but also a larger purpose: giving voices to unique, creative, and transformative stories.
Valuing the voices of other women taught Tanya to value her own. Over time, IN HER GENIUS evolved from a blog sharing the journeys of modern women into a boutique press, reflecting Tanya Gervasi's deep passions and ever-evolving interests.
TOO MUCHNESS & LITTLE SENSE
IN HER GENIUS thus celebrates and reclaims the path of "too muchness" and "little sense," transforming these once-derogatory labels into symbols of strength and authenticity. It honours the women whose brilliance defies tidy categorisation, those who live passionately, intuitively, and boldly—even when their choices are dismissed as irrational or excessive by conventional standards. This phrase serves as a tribute to women who remain unapologetically true to themselves, drawing upon their intuition to create, nurture, and transform the world in profound ways. It is a celebration of the vibrant, innate genius that flourishes when women embrace every part of who they are—especially the parts that society has deemed “too much.”
