Anna Connelly

Anna Connelly nacque il 23 settembre 1868 in Pennsylvania. Ella inventò la prima rampa antincendio con scalinata esterna grazie alla quale molte vite sono state salvate.

Nel ‘900 il suo modello è entrato a far parte di molti regolamenti edilizi di sicurezza, obbligatori in tutti gli Stati Uniti. È stata la prima donna americana a ottenere l’approvazione di un brevetto nel 1897 senza l’assistenza di un “co-autore” maschile. 

Anna fu in grado di rompere uno stereotipo e apportare importanti contributi nel campo delle scienze, della tecnologia, ingegneria e matematica (STEM).

Anna Connelly was born on September 23, 1868 in Pennsylvania. She invented the first fire ramp with an external staircase thanks to which many lives were saved.

In the 1900s, her model became part of many building safety regulations, mandatory throughout the United States. She was the first American woman to get a patent approved, in 1897, without the assistance of a male “co-author.”

Anna was able to break a stereotype and make important contributions in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
